You could have an arrow worm (chaetognath) or a lancelet larva.


Chaetognaths (arrow worms)


Phylum Chaetognatha is composed entirely of marine species which are usually planktonic. Chaetognaths, or arrow worms, have a long gelatinous body with lateral fins and tail fins, and have spines around their mouth to grasp prey, usually copepods.

Common species in these waters are Parasagitta elegans and Flaccisagitta enflata.

Lancelet Larvae


Lancelets are primitive chordates (phylum Chordata) -- primitive in that their notochord persists throughout life, they have no vertebrae, cranium or jaws. Otherwise, they resemble primitive fish.
